Dominican Republic implements security plan in Cienfuegos
The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Interior and Police has launched a Comprehensive Intervention Program for Citizen Security in the Cienfuegos neighborhood of Santiago. Led by Minister Faride Raful, the initiative is the second of ten prioritized territories aimed at addressing security and coexistence issues through coordinated state action.
The program focuses on three pillars: prevention and coexistence, physical environment improvement, and strengthening territorial control. Specific measures include conflict mediation, gender violence prevention, public space recovery, improved lighting, and targeted patrolling.
In a separate development, authorities reported an increase in voluntary surrenders of individuals with outstanding arrest warrants. This trend follows public directives from the presidency. Among those surrendering is Ronny Paniagua Vicioso, who turned himself in to the Criminal Investigation Subdirectorate (DICRIM) in San Juan de la Maguana regarding a 2025 homicide case.
