Chilean lawmakers support permanent funding for Toki Rapa Nui School
The Culture Commission of the Chamber of Deputies in Chile has provided cross-party support for the Toki Law. This initiative aims to secure permanent funding within the 2027 Budget for the Toki Rapa Nui School of Music and Arts.
During the commission session, founder Mahani Teave and Toki Foundation executive director Teamai Teave presented the institution's impact on youth education and the preservation of Rapa Nui culture and heritage. The school has provided free artistic and musical training on the island for 14 years.
Following the commission's support, deputies Luis Cuello, Hotuiti Teao, Luis Sánchez, and Jaime Bassa met with the Minister of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage, Francisco Undurraga, to present the proposal. The goal is to establish stable resources to ensure the long-term continuity of the non-profit organization.
