Chilean lawmakers urge end to politicization of police deaths
Chilean lawmakers Mauro González and Zandra Parisi have called for an end to the political exploitation surrounding the deaths of Carabineros officers in the line of duty.
Deputy Mauro González urged political sectors to act with unity and treat public security as a state priority rather than a partisan issue. He emphasized that the loss of officers should not be used for political criticism, noting that security efforts should focus on providing concrete tools to the police force.
Deputy Zandra Parisi also criticized both the right and left for using these deaths for political or communicative gain. She advocated for focusing on substantive improvements for the institution, such as better salaries and life insurance, rather than seeking social media engagement or political division.
