Chilean media figures criticize Isidora Gaete over remarks about María José Quintanilla

Chilean media personalities are criticizing Isidora Gaete following her comments regarding singer María José Quintanilla and her potential participation in the Viña del Mar Festival.

During a broadcast on Canal 13’s “Alfombra Roja,” Gaete referred to Quintanilla’s performances at municipal festivals as “conciertitos” (little concerts) and suggested the artist needs the festival as a platform. These remarks sparked backlash from several colleagues.

Karen Paola defended the singer, labeling the comments as “tremendously classist” and noting the difficulty of maintaining a musical career in Chile. Similarly, journalist Hugo Valencia criticized Gaete’s tone and use of diminutives, describing her remarks as a “ninguneo” (belittling) of the artist’s career and achievements.
