Chilean memory sites mapped via new free digital platform

The MUDA Festival has launched the ‘Sitios de Memoria’ app, a free public platform designed to map and preserve the history of human rights sites in Chile. The tool uses a georeferenced map to allow users to explore locations linked to the country's history of imprisonment, torture, and extermination during the dictatorship.

While the Chilean state recognizes 132 such sites, currently fewer than 1% receive state funding. The application aims to increase visibility for these locations and the organizations working to preserve them. In its initial phase, the platform will feature 12 specific sites connected to the MUDA Festival, offering expanded content and virtual tours, including the Estadio Nacional Memoria Nacional site.
