Chilean military enhances regional capabilities through technology and joint exercises

The Chilean military is advancing its operational capabilities through technological training and joint maneuvers in the Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica Region.

Members of the Chilean Navy recently completed a drone assembly and operation course provided by the national company RoboMotic Chile. This training, held in Valparaíso, aims to strengthen domestic capabilities in unmanned systems and reduce reliance on external solutions. The initiative includes the use of locally designed equipment, such as the VTOL EV350, for tactical missions.

In the southern region, the Austral Joint Command (CCA) is conducting several activities to verify readiness. Vice Admiral Juan Pablo Marín Fernández, Deputy Chief of the Joint Staff, inspected the IV Air Brigade at the Chabunco Air Base in Punta Arenas, reviewing aircraft such as the DHC-6 Twin Otter, Bell-412, and F-5 Tigre III.

Additionally, the Chilean Army's Chacabuco Regiment arrived in Punta Arenas via the Navy's LST-92 Rancagua to participate in the Jauken 2026 exercise. This winter maneuver tests the operational readiness of troops facing the extreme climatic and geographic challenges of the southern territory, emphasizing interoperability between Army and Navy forces.
