Chilean Ministry of Energy monitors pellet fuel supply amid regional shortages

The Chilean Ministry of Energy is intensifying its monitoring of the pellet fuel market following reports of supply difficulties in the Los Ríos region. While officials state there is no national stockout, they acknowledge a scenario of tightness caused by high winter demand and logistical challenges. To address local concerns, the Ministry will implement biweekly reports throughout August and September to track product distribution to various communes.

Industry representatives from the Chilean Biomass Association (AChBIOM) have clarified that stock remains available and production is proceeding as planned. However, the industry faces seasonal pressure; production typically occurs in summer for sales between March and September. Logistics issues and sudden cold waves often lead to temporary shortages at retail points, particularly from the Biobío region southward, where demand is highest.
