Chilean Ministry of Finance to reform Administrative Statute

Chile's Ministry of Finance has announced the creation of a transversal technical commission to lead a comprehensive reform of the Administrative Statute. The initiative aims to modernize the regulations governing public officials to ensure they are coherent with contemporary requirements.

Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz stated that the commission will be led by an independent economist and will include specialists from various sectors and academia. The government intends to avoid an accelerated legislative process, opting instead for a gradual dialogue to build consensus among different stakeholders. This reform is part of a broader fiscal consolidation strategy, though officials noted that any changes to the public service regime will require extensive discussion.
