Chilean Ministry of Health recalls Líder brand ham due to Listeria

The Chilean Ministry of Health has issued an urgent food alert following the detection of Listeria monocytogenes in a batch of Líder brand cocktail ham. The contamination was identified during the National Microbiological Surveillance of Food in the Metropolitan Region.

The affected product is the 250-gram format of Líder cocktail ham, manufactured by Productos Alimenticios Corbac Ltda. The specific batch has an elaboration date of August 14, 2026, and an expiration date of September 5, 2026. Authorities have ordered an immediate market withdrawal and an exhaustive inspection of the manufacturing plant.

Health officials advise that anyone in possession of this specific product should not consume it under any circumstances. Listeria infection can lead to serious conditions such as sepsis, meningitis, or meningoencephalitis, posing particularly high risks to pregnant women, newborns, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.
