Colombia government delivers ambulances to Chocó amid political dispute

President Abelardo de la Espriella announced the delivery of nine 4x4 diesel ambulances to the Chocó department, funded by the Ministry of Health. The vehicles are designated for several municipalities, including Bagadó, Bahía Solano, and San José del Palmar. The government also announced infrastructure projects for hospitals in 11 municipalities and a third-level hospital for the region.

The announcement has sparked political controversy. Former President Gustavo Petro accused De la Espriella of claiming credit for a program that was already funded and initiated under his administration. Petro stated that the resources were part of a national endowment program that had already committed funds for over 1,500 ambulances.
