Chilean motel industry faces significant decline in demand
The motel industry in Chile is facing a significant downturn, with business owners reporting a sharp decline in occupancy. In Providencia, some operators have seen their Friday night sales drop from 140 rooms to just 70.
Francisco Soto, president of the Asociación de Hoteles para Adultos, noted that the sector is seeing a transversal decrease in demand, estimating a drop of nearly 30% across many member businesses. Despite attempts by owners to remodel rooms with themed decorations to attract couples, the decline continues to worsen monthly.
