Chilean municipalities host community events for senior citizens

Municipalities in Chile are hosting various community events to celebrate and recognize senior citizens. In Ovalle, the launch of the 2026 Month of the Older Adult featured participation from 40 clubs across urban and rural sectors. The event, held at the Plaza de Armas, included a parade of candidates for the 2026 Older Adult Queen. Mayor Héctor Vega Campusano emphasized the municipality's commitment to supporting the elderly and recognizing their invaluable contributions to the community.

In Chonchi, more than 300 seniors gathered at the Instituto del Mar Capitán Williams for a spring celebration titled ‘Bienvenida Primavera’. Organized by the local municipality, the event included a thanksgiving service, a shared lunch, and musical performances by groups such as Voces del Recuerdo and the folklore ensemble Tradiciones. Councilman Humberto Águila Andrade highlighted the importance of prioritizing and celebrating those who have shaped the history of Chonchi.
