Chilean municipalities launch programs for elderly care and community leadership

Local government initiatives in Chile are focusing on improving support systems for the elderly and their caregivers. In Providencia, the Municipality and Senior Suites launched a pilot “Care School” designed to provide practical training to caregivers of people with disabilities. The program covered essential skills such as first aid, safe mobilization, and home care, reporting a 100% satisfaction rate among participants.

In Quilpué, the Municipal Corporation’s “MÁS AMA” program has certified over 60 community leaders in functional stimulation. These leaders, representing various urban and rural sectors, received training in physical, functional, and cognitive stimulation, as well as first aid and emotional well-being. The initiative aims to empower community members to promote active aging and autonomy within their local neighborhoods.
