Chilean municipalities promote regional tourism and cultural heritage

In Chile, local authorities are implementing various initiatives to promote regional tourism and preserve cultural heritage. In the Coquimbo Region, the commune of Vicuña is working to revitalize its tourism sector following recent connectivity issues caused by storms. Through the “365: Tu mejor viaje, todos los días” initiative by Sernatur Coquimbo, Vicuña has been promoting the Elqui Valley to visitors in Santiago to ensure a strong upcoming summer season.

Meanwhile, in Valparaíso, the Municipal Tourism Department has launched a “Tourism Awareness” program focused on the city's “suplementeros” (newsstand vendors). In collaboration with the local vendors' union, the program includes historical training and cultural routes to recognize the trade as a vital part of the city's living intangible heritage.
