Chilean nationals arrested for cocaine smuggling at Ngurah Rai Airport
Customs officials at Ngurah Rai International Airport and the Bali National Narcotics Board (BNNP) intercepted an international cocaine smuggling attempt involving approximately 4.59 kilograms of the drug.
The operation targeted two Chilean nationals and a local individual acting as a recipient. The drugs were discovered during an X-ray inspection of two backpacks belonging to passengers on a Jetstar flight from Melbourne to Denpasar. The suspects had reportedly traveled from Santiago, Chile, via a transit route.
Investigators found four black plastic packages containing white powder hidden within false compartments in the walls of the backpacks. The seizure follows an intensive inspection triggered by suspicious X-ray imagery.
