Chilean opposition leaders propose ‘Segundo Piso’ advisory group

Senator Paulina Vodanovic, president of the Socialist Party, has proposed the creation of a ‘Segundo Piso’ (Second Floor) within the Chilean opposition. This advisory body is intended to serve as a strategic counterpart to the team operating within La Moneda, providing legislative, administrative, and political proposals to the assembly of party presidents.

The initiative aims to strengthen the opposition's strategic depth and coordination in response to the government of President José Antonio Kast, particularly following the recent defeat regarding a major economic reform. Under the proposal, each participating political party would designate a leader to join this advisory group.

The proposal received support during a weekly meeting of opposition leaders, which included representatives from the Communist Party, Frente Amplio, PPD, Christian Democracy, and the Liberal Party. This move comes as the opposition prepares for a meeting under the slogan ‘Democracia Siempre’ to coordinate their agenda.
