Chilean organizations launch nationwide PET recycling initiative

CCU, Teletón, and the Chilean Ministry of the Environment have launched a new edition of the ‘Superhéroes del Reciclaje’ (Recycling Superheroes) initiative. The campaign aims to mobilize families across Chile to recycle PET plastic bottles.

To support the effort, more than 700 recycling points will be established from Arica to Magallanes. This network is supported by over 120 municipalities, waste management systems ReSimple and GiroRecicla, and Copec, which is providing 72 collection points at service stations in Antofagasta, Santiago, O’Higgins, and Temuco.

Collected bottles will be sent to CirCCUlar, CCU’s bottle-to-bottle recycling plant, where they will be processed into raw material to produce new bottles, reintegrating them into the productive cycle.
