Chilean pensioners and couples eligible for various financial bonuses
Chilean pensioners and married couples are eligible for various non-state financial benefits. The ‘Bono Bodas de Plata’ is provided by compensation funds (cajas de compensación) to couples celebrating 25 years of marriage or Civil Union Agreements (AUC). Amounts vary by institution: Caja Los Andes offers $35,000, while Caja Los Héroes, Caja La Araucana, and Caja 18 provide $25,000. Requirements include presenting marriage certificates and identification, with specific deadlines and procedures varying by fund.
Additionally, the ‘Beneficio por Años Cotizados’ (BAC) provides payments based on years of contributions. For women, a minimum of 10 years of contributions is required, while men must have at least 20 years. The bonus is calculated in Unidades de Fomento (UF), starting at 0.1 UF per year of contribution and capping at 2.5 UF (approximately $101,928) for 25 years of contributions. Payments are deposited directly into beneficiaries' accounts. Eligibility can be verified via ChileAtiende using a RUN and date of birth.
