Chilean police arrest teenagers for violent robberies

Authorities in Chile have apprehended two minors in connection with separate violent robbery incidents.

In Punta Arenas, Carabineros detained a 16-year-old following a report of an attack involving a machete. The victim reported being approached by three individuals, one of whom struck him in the back with the weapon. Police recovered two mobile phones, a wallet, and the machete used in the assault. The suspect has been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry.

In the Metropolitan Region, PDI detectives arrested a 15-year-old in Huechuraba for involvement in multiple robberies. The suspect is linked to a violent incident involving journalist Mónica Rincón, where a stolen vehicle was used to intercept her. Investigators utilized social media tracking, specifically a TikTok video posted from the stolen car, to assist in the identification and capture of the suspect.
