Chilean police investigate fatal shooting in Estación Central

The Chilean Investigative Police (PDI) are investigating the homicide of a Venezuelan man, approximately 50 years old, who was shot in the Estación Central commune of Santiago. The victim collapsed on a public street near the intersection of Los Pingüinos and Atahualpa after receiving a gunshot wound to the posterior thoracic region.

Witnesses provided first aid and transported the man to the Hospital de la Mutual de Seguridad, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators are examining whether the attack occurred several blocks away from where the victim collapsed. Authorities are also looking into whether the crime is linked to a robbery, noting the absence of the victim's identification documents and mobile phone, though they have urged caution before confirming a theft occurred.
