Carlos Slim considers telecom tower merger in Mexico and Latin America

Mexican businessman Carlos Slim is evaluating a potential reorganization of his telecommunications infrastructure businesses. This follows a proposal from Operadora de Sites Mexicanos (Telesites) to consider a merger with Sitios Latinoamérica, both of which are listed on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV).

The initiative aims to integrate assets dedicated to mobile network deployment across Mexico and other Latin American markets into a single corporate structure. Telesites has indicated that its Board of Directors will decide whether to present this merger to the Extraordinary General Shareholders' Meeting.

The proposed merger would consolidate operations that are currently separate, focusing on passive telecommunications infrastructure such as towers, support structures, and physical spaces used to install transmission equipment. The final implementation remains subject to shareholder approval and the acquisition of necessary regulatory permits.
