Chilean President José Antonio Kast faces declining approval ratings

President José Antonio Kast is facing declining public approval in Chile, according to multiple recent opinion polls. Data from the Pulso Ciudadano survey shows his approval dropped to 28.2% in September, a 5.4-point decrease from August, while disapproval rose to 57.6%.

Other recent measurements reflect similar trends. The CADEM poll reported a 36% approval rating and 59% disapproval during the fourth week of September. Additionally, the Data Influye survey placed the President's approval at 25%, marking an 11-point drop from the previous month, with disapproval reaching 62%.

Despite the decline in popularity, the President has attempted to shift his political tone. After initially defining his administration as a ‘government of emergency,’ Kast has moved toward a rhetoric of unity and agreement, notably stating during a visit to the United Nations that ‘Chile is back.’ However, analysts suggest the administration is entering a ‘polycrisis’ characterized by interconnected communication and political challenges.
