Milei and Kast face declining approval amid economic concerns

Recent polling in Argentina and Chile indicates declining approval ratings for both President Javier Milei and President José Antonio Kast, largely driven by economic dissatisfaction.

In Argentina, surveys from Zentrix Consultora show Milei’s approval hovering around 35%, while Axel Kicillof’s positive image has reached 38.2%. Despite these slight shifts, both leaders face high rejection rates. The Argentine public expresses significant pessimism, with 57.4% feeling negative about the country's future. Economic concerns are paramount, as many citizens report that their salaries are not keeping pace with inflation, leading to widespread debt to cover basic needs like food and healthcare.

In Chile, President Kast has seen his disapproval rise to between 60% and 63%, marking a significant low in his administration. This decline is closely linked to economic sentiment; Cadem reports that 91% of respondents view the employment situation negatively and 84% believe the economy is stagnant or declining. Public perception of the government's handling of the economy and job creation remains a primary driver of political discontent.
