Latin American presidential rankings: Sheinbaum leads, Abinader rises

A September 2026 ranking by CB Global Data evaluates the approval ratings of 18 Latin American presidents. Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico leads the region with a 69% positive image, followed by Nayib Bukele of El Salvador at 66.2%. Abelardo de la Espriella of Colombia holds the third position with 53.6%, and Keiko Fujimori of Peru is fourth with 52.4%.

Luis Abinader, President of the Dominican Republic, secured fifth place with a 50.8% positive rating. Abinader recorded the highest growth in the region during the month, increasing his approval by 2.7 percentage points from August. His improved standing is attributed to strong economic performance, with international organizations like the IMF and World Bank projecting 4.5% growth for the country in 2026.

At the lower end of the ranking, Javier Milei of Argentina placed 14th with a 35.5% positive image and a 60.6% negative rating. Other notable declines include Bolivian President Rodrigo Paz, who dropped significantly to 12th place.
