Moria Casán Netflix biopic faces legal threats from heirs

The Netflix biographical series ‘Moria’, documenting the life of Argentine icon Moria Casán, has faced significant legal threats following its release. Jorge Porcel Jr., son of the late comedian Jorge Porcel, has announced intentions to sue the production and Netflix for approximately $2 million. He claims the series violates intellectual property laws by using his father’s name and image without authorization.

Simultaneously, Ingrid Vadalá, daughter of Casán’s former partner Luis Vadalá, has threatened legal action. She criticized the series for its portrayal of her father, describing the depiction of his life and alleged drug use as ‘absurd and vulgar.’

Moria Casán has defended the production, stating that an eight-hour series cannot encompass an eighty-year life and dismissing criticisms regarding character absences as ‘myopia.’ While the series has achieved high viewership in Argentina and internationally, the legal disputes involving the heirs of featured figures continue to escalate.
