Chilean regional councils approve infrastructure investments for Lago Verde and Ollagüe

Regional councils in Chile have approved significant investments for infrastructure and services in remote municipalities.

In the Aysén region, the Regional Council approved nearly $12 billion CLP for the construction of a sewage network and a wastewater treatment plant in Lago Verde. This project aims to improve sanitary conditions in a locality where 82% of surveyed homes currently rely on septic tanks and 18% use cesspools. Regional Governor Marcelo Santana indicated that efforts are underway to ensure the project is completed by 2027.

In the Antofagasta region, the Regional Council unanimously approved two projects for the municipality of Ollagüe totaling $600 million CLP. The funding, provided through the National Fund for Regional Development (FNDR), will cover the purchase of a 42-passenger inter-municipal bus for $320 million CLP and a mobile veterinary clinic for $280 million CLP. The bus is intended to improve access to health and education services, while the mobile clinic is expected to support local livestock activities.
