Chile implements regional initiatives for child protection and rights
Various regional initiatives in Chile are focusing on the protection and participation of children and adolescents. In La Araucanía, a large-scale campaign involving 120 taxibuses and large billboards has been launched in Temuco and Padre Las Casas to encourage families to join foster care programs.
In the Maule region, Subsecretary of Childhood Marcelo Sánchez presented the “Chile Cuida a los Niños” (Chile Cares for Children) government plan in Talca. The plan aims to strengthen preventive systems through Local Childhood Offices and improve specialized protection services to prevent serious rights violations.
Other regional efforts include the election of the first regional board for the Magallanes Childhood Advisory Council in Punta Arenas, representing ten communes. Additionally, in Pemuco, youth representatives presented a communal diagnosis of childhood needs to the municipal council, while Fundación Integra participated in a welfare and rights fair in Talca.
