Chilean regions implement fire prevention and safety initiatives

Authorities in Chile are implementing various regional initiatives to enhance fire prevention and safety. In the Cauquenes province, the Forest Table (Mesa Forestal) has strengthened coordination between provincial emergency officials, CONAF, Carabineros, firefighters, and forestry companies. This collaborative effort focuses on a work plan involving subcommittees for training, dissemination, education, and mitigation to prepare communities and protect territories from forest fires.

In Ovalle, the municipality, in partnership with the CFT Estatal de la Región de Coquimbo and the Fire Department, conducted a safety workshop focused on preventing domestic fires and electrical accidents. The initiative provided residents with practical tools to recognize risks such as electrical overloads and short circuits, utilizing technical students to bridge academic training with community safety needs.
