Chilean regions lead e-commerce growth ahead of national holidays
In preparation for the national holidays, e-commerce in Chile is seeing significant growth in regions outside of Santiago. According to data from Tiendanube, the northern region of the country recorded a 33% increase in online purchases over the last fifteen days, outpacing the Metropolitan Region, which grew by 14%.
The southern and central zones also saw increases of 21% and 17%, respectively. Experts suggest that online channels are gaining ground more rapidly in areas where physical retail options are more limited, providing direct access to catalogs that previously required travel to urban centers.
Overall, total orders grew by 13% and units sold rose by 16% in the last two weeks. Digital wallets were the fastest-growing payment method, increasing by 37%, while debit card usage accounted for 36% of purchases. The food and beverage category has already seen early orders for holiday-themed food boxes.
