Colombia and Venezuela face humanitarian crises from disasters

Various regions in Colombia and Venezuela are grappling with the aftermath of natural disasters and infrastructure failures. In Quibdó, Colombia, residents are organizing community efforts to manage food and debris removal following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that caused significant housing and road collapses.

In Dosquebradas, Colombia, local authorities have deployed technical teams and volunteers to provide humanitarian aid, including the distribution of over 20,000 medicines and 4,500 aid kits. Emergency shelters have been established to accommodate displaced families.

In the Sucre state of Venezuela, the collapse of road infrastructure in the Montes municipality has isolated over 3,500 people in Aricagua. Residents are forced to cross the Blanco River via improvised paths, creating significant risks for agricultural producers and local commerce, especially with the approaching rainy season.
