Chilean school sports regional champions qualify for national finals

Juegos Deportivos Escolares school sports handball basketball regional championships

Regional school sports competitions in Chile have concluded, determining representatives for the national phase of the Juegos Deportivos Escolares.

In the La Araucanía region, Colegio Angol won the Sub-14 women's handball championship, while Colegio Alberto Hurtado of Villarrica secured the title for the boys. These teams will represent the region in the 2026 National Finals following a qualifying process that began in May.

In the Los Lagos region, Instituto Alemán de Puerto Montt claimed the Sub-14 men's basketball regional title after defeating Colegio Carpe Diem of Castro with a score of 91 to 40. The team will represent the region in upcoming games in Valparaíso.
