Chilean SMEs seek better integration with large industrial supply chains

In Chile, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face challenges connecting with large industrial supply chains despite having the capacity to meet demand. Data from the Ministry of Economy indicates that during the first half of 2025, MiPymes accounted for 88.1% of purchase orders through the Compra Ágil de Mercado Público system, totaling over 321,000 orders.

Bridging the gap between local providers and large corporations is essential to prevent local goods and services from being sourced externally due to a lack of connectivity. Public-private alliances, such as the collaboration between Sercotec and local businesses in Chiloé to connect SMEs with the salmon industry, are being used to integrate technology and training to help smaller businesses compete more effectively.
