Chilean President José Antonio Kast has accepted the resignations of Minister of Sport Natalia Duco and Undersecretary Andrés Otero, effective August 14. The departures follow a series of controversies, most notably an investigation by the Comptroller General regarding the alleged misuse of a government vehicle. While the Ministry initially claimed the vehicle was used for a work meeting at a former official's home, video footage surfaced showing Duco and other officials participating in a social gathering involving a barbecue and karaoke.

Duco's five-month tenure was also marked by disputes over the use of the National Stadium for BTS concerts, questions regarding her receipt of the Proddar scholarship, and her stance on Chile's bid for the 2030 Youth Olympic Games.

Francisco Riveros, an attorney and former general manager of the Palestino club, has been appointed as the new Minister of Sport. Sofía Rengifo is expected to succeed Otero as Undersecretary.
