Chilean state agencies receive record information requests

Chile's Council for Transparency (CPLT) reported a record 167,185 requests for access to information from state administration bodies during the first half of 2026. This represents the highest semester figure since the State Transparency Portal was established in 2013.

The most frequently requested topics included migration and residency (15,652 requests), administrative summaries and Comptroller's office procedures (13,627), security camera footage related to accidents and robberies (13,535), property and land records (11,683), and payments, fines, or debts (11,338). The National Migration Service received the highest volume of specific requests, totaling 9,245.

Of the total requests, 63% were directed at central government agencies, while 35.7% targeted municipalities and local entities. The Transparency Portal saw 4,598,319 visits during this period, a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2025. CPLT President Natalia González noted that these figures demonstrate how citizens use transparency to resolve concrete issues, such as tracking administrative procedures or gathering evidence for accidents.
