Regional cultural and educational initiatives expand across South America

Various regional cultural and educational initiatives are being implemented across South America. In Chile, the municipality of Quirihue has launched the “Letras de la Tierra de los Vientos” reading plan, which integrates local authors and cultural heritage into the school curriculum for primary and secondary students. In Villarrica, young creators from the “Lecturas al Aire” literary workshop are presenting original works and audio capsules. Additionally, an astronomy education congress was held in Antofagasta to update teachers on the “Earth and Universe” curriculum.

In Ecuador, the city of Loja is hosting a book fair to honor the career of writer Carlos Carrión Figueroa, recipient of the 2026 Eugenio Espejo National Prize. The event features book exhibitions and cultural activities to promote local literary production.

In Argentina, educational and community programs continue to foster civic and artistic engagement. Students at Colegio Salesiano participated in the “Concejales por un Día” program to learn about municipal legislative functions. Meanwhile, in Comallo, local cultural workshops showcased community productions, and in Río Grande, the Paseo del Muelle hosted a free exhibition of photography, music, and visual arts to strengthen local identity.
