Chile implements diverse educational and scientific initiatives
Various educational and scientific initiatives are being implemented across Chile to support student development and community engagement. In La Araucanía, the ‘Escuelas Protegidas’ law has been enacted to strengthen school coexistence and provide tools to prevent and resolve violence within educational communities.
Vocational and academic engagement programs are also active. In Coyhaique, over 30 students participated in a medical immersion program at the Regional Hospital to explore healthcare careers. Similarly, the University of Talca hosted approximately 6,000 high school students for its ‘Abre Puertas’ event, allowing them to experience university life through workshops and laboratories. In Antofagasta, ten student teams presented science and innovation projects through the Explora program.
Cultural and scientific milestones include a regional festival in Tarapacá aimed at revitalizing indigenous languages through intercultural education, and the 46th Chilean Anatomy Congress held at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, which gathered over 400 international experts. Additionally, in Punta Arenas, the ‘Actívate, Cuídate y Vive’ program is working with students to promote stroke prevention and healthy habits.
