Chilean tax ruling and Puno budget execution updates

In Chile, Finance Minister Jorge Quiroz welcomed a ruling by the Constitutional Court that upheld the principle of tax invariability. Quiroz described the sentence as “very, very, very conclusive,” noting that the decision provides legal certainty for investors, particularly in the mining sector where long-term project planning is essential. The ruling follows challenges from the opposition regarding tax and environmental regulations, ultimately maintaining the core of the government's tax reform while placing certain limitations on its scope.

In Peru, the Mayor of Puno, Javier Ponce Roque, acknowledged low budget execution rates within the Provincial Municipality of Puno. Attributing the delays to administrative and procurement difficulties, as well as previous investigations by judicial and police authorities, Ponce Roque stated the administration aims to reach 90% execution by December. Current major projects include an 11 million soles intervention at Huajsapata hill, alongside works in Alto Puno, Avenida Jesús, and Los Ángeles.
