Chilean theater productions address childhood and water crisis
Various theatrical productions are being staged in Chile to address social and environmental themes. In Valparaíso, Compañía Teatro IluCión is performing “Nico, mi niño interior” at the Sala IPA. The production, part of the company’s 33rd-anniversary celebration and a regional government project, explores the impact of digital screens and video games on childhood imagination and traditional play.
In San Pedro de la Paz, the dance-theater piece “Akutun, Hacerse Volver,” directed by Daniela Sánchez, will be presented at the Corporación Cultural San Pedro de la Paz. The work utilizes dance, live music, and puppetry to reflect on the water crisis, environmental devastation, and territorial memory in central-south Chile.
