Chilean towns grant millions of pesos to fire department and community groups
The municipality of Quirihue in Chile handed over a second instalment of 5 million pesos to the local fire corps. The payment was made at the town hall by Mayor Eduardo Redlich in the presence of community leaders and the corps superintendent, reinforcing municipal support for emergency response capabilities.
In a separate event, the municipality of Quilpué allocated roughly 240 million pesos to 111 social organisations through the Fondo de Desarrollo Vecinal (FONDEVE). Mayor Carolina Corti highlighted the fund’s role in improving security, environment, recreation and infrastructure, stating, “Estamos muy contentos porque hoy entregamos recursos a 111 organizaciones sociales de Quilpué…”. The resources are intended to empower neighbourhood groups in planning and executing local projects.
