Chilean universities advance science and innovation initiatives
Chilean universities are advancing collaborative efforts to strengthen national science, technology, and innovation. At the National Science 2030 Meeting held at the Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO), academic leaders and authorities reviewed the progress of the initiative’s second stage and outlined a third phase focused on research capacity, innovation, and industry engagement.
UFRO Rector Juan Manuel Fierro emphasized the role of autonomous universities in driving productive transformation and generating applied knowledge for national development. The meeting also highlighted the importance of long-term policies and cooperation between the state, academia, and the productive sector.
In a separate showcase of academic capabilities, the Universidad de Concepción participated in the Protagonistas 2030 event. The institution presented diverse technological advancements across its three campuses, including robotics, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and green hydrogen initiatives. These demonstrations aimed to connect students and families with the university’s research in sectors such as precision agriculture, energy, and sustainability.
