Chilean wine exports decline amid U.S. tariff impacts

Chilean bottled wine exports experienced a decline in July 2026, with volume falling by 7.2% and value dropping by 10.9% compared to the previous year. The most significant downturn occurred in the United States, where shipments plummeted by 36% in volume and 47% in value, a decline attributed to the impact of imposed tariffs. While markets such as China, the United Kingdom, and Mexico showed growth, other major destinations like Brazil, Japan, and Canada saw decreases.

In the United States, the distilled spirits market reported a slight 0.3% increase in volume for July, but total sales value decreased by 2.2% to $1.14 billion. This discrepancy indicates a lower value per unit sold. The canned cocktail and ready-to-drink categories provided significant support to the U.S. market despite the overall decline in total revenue.
