Chilehuevos projects egg consumption to reach 320 units per person by 2026
Chilehuevos has updated its consumption estimates, projecting that Chileans will consume 320 eggs per person by 2026. This figure represents approximately 27 eggs per month per inhabitant, totaling a national consumption of nearly 6.45 billion units.
The new methodology incorporates data from approximately 50,000 small producers through agreements with INDAP and the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG), as well as new players in the incubator segment in the southern zone. Under previous methodologies, 2025 consumption was estimated at 251 eggs per person.
With these updated figures, Chile is expected to rank fourth in per capita egg consumption in Latin America, following Argentina (430), Mexico (410), and Colombia (370), and ahead of Brazil (301). Chilehuevos president José Luis Moure noted that the diversity of the sector, ranging from small family farms to large-scale producers, is a primary strength of the market.
