ChilePay releases second Payments Radiography, cites fraud as top challenge

ChilePay organized the seminar “Pagos digitales en Chile: Los desafíos de una nueva etapa” together with Banco Bci and Evertec. At the event the organisation presented the second edition of the Radiografía de los Pagos in Chile, expanding its scope to offer a comprehensive view of the country’s payment ecosystem.

The report highlighted fraud as a principal concern, noting that 43.5 % of surveyed actors identified unauthorized operations and fraud as the main source of regulatory tension. Panelists, including former Comisión para el Mercado Financiero commissioner Rosario Celedón and Evertec’s risk and fraud director Nicolás Mendoza, discussed the need for greater interoperability, stronger security, and collaborative models to share risk signals. Mendoza warned that “there is a significant opportunity to move toward more collaborative models that allow sharing risk signals, anticipating emerging threats and strengthening collective response to increasingly sophisticated fraud schemes.”
