Chile's Aconcagua Health Service Expands Primary Urgency Network
The Servicio de Salud Aconcagua (SSA) activated its primary urgency facilities—SUR, SAPU and SAR—to provide after‑hours care for low‑ to medium‑complexity cases. The rural urgency devices (SUR) operate in Rinconada, Calle Larga, San Esteban, Santa María and Catemu, a primary urgency service (SAPU) serves San Felipe, and a high‑resolution unit (SAR) covers Los Andes. Operating from 17:00 onward, with SAPU closing at midnight and SAR running continuously until 08:00, the network aims to relieve hospital emergency departments and ensure timely referrals for more complex conditions.
SSA spokesperson Carolina Morales urged residents to first attend the appropriate primary urgency point according to symptom severity, emphasizing reduced waiting times and preserved hospital capacity for critical cases.
