Chile's Comptroller probes Magallanes regional government over free‑zone contract

Chile's Comptroller General of the Republic opened a formal investigation of its own initiative into the Magallanes Regional Government for its oversight of the free‑zone concession contract. The concession is currently administered by Sociedad de Rentas Inmobiliarias, owned by Claudio Fischer Llop. Acting regional administrator Pedro Ossandón Solar confirmed the probe during an interview, noting that the administration was notified in December and that the Comptroller requested the first set of documents in April. Regional councilors have formed a special commission to monitor the matter and have criticized the concession's management as the upcoming tender for a new concessionaire approaches.
