Chile's Economic Cabinet Holds First Field Session in Putre
Romina Cifuentes, the regional minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, led the inaugural Economic Cabinet field session in the northern Chilean commune of Putre. The event gathered representatives from the Ministry of Economy and its agencies—including Corfo, ProChile, BancoEstado Microempresas, the National Institute of Statistics (INE), Sernapesca, Sernatur and Sercotec—alongside the provincial presidential delegate Sebastián Huerta.
Participants toured Corfo‑backed projects, examined local innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives, and discussed issues such as fisheries permits, tourism, and the impact of introduced species. The minister emphasized the goal of bringing opportunities to every corner of the region, stating, “Queremos que las oportunidades lleguen a cada rincón de la región.” The session also featured a presentation by INE director‑general Yonathan Campos on the importance of up‑to‑date census data for planning public policies.
The outreach aimed to connect public program offers directly with entrepreneurs and residents, answer community queries, and strengthen ties between government services and the territory.
