Chile's education authorities boost local schools with visits and scholarships in Maule and Mostazal

The regional secretary of the Ministry of Education, Cristian Letelier, visited the Cerro Alto José Opazo school in Constitución and the Liceo San Ignacio in Empedrado, Maule region. He discussed the government's education agenda, including reforms to the school admission system, the protected schools law and the "Chile Aprende y Avanza" initiative aimed at strengthening early literacy, writing and math skills. Letelier also evaluated proposals for a full‑day school schedule and highlighted the technical‑professional programmes, noting a recent national gastronomy competition win by the Liceo San Ignacio.

In the O'Higgins region, Mayor Verónica Arroyo Arancibia of Mostazal presented the 2026 municipal scholarships to more than 850 students from several local schools. Funded by Casino funds and administered by the municipal community‑development office, the scholarships recognise academic effort and provide financial support to families, covering roughly 10 % of the student population in each institution. Recipients expressed gratitude, saying the award motivates them to continue improving their studies.
