Chile’s Expomin 2025 Achieves Carbon Neutrality as FEXMIN 2026 Attracts Record Projects

At the Metropolitan Santiago Convention Center, organizers of Expomin 2025—including FISA, GL events Chile, and partners Anglo American and Colbún—received the HuellaChile carbon‑neutral certification. The event’s emissions were measured and offset through hydro‑electric carbon credits, marking the first global‑scale mining fair to claim carbon neutrality. CEOs Francisco Sotomayor (GL events Chile) and Patricio Hidalgo (Anglo American) highlighted the achievement as a benchmark for the mining sector’s role in the energy transition.

Meanwhile, the upcoming FEXMIN 2026 exhibition, scheduled for 25‑27 August in Espacio Riesco, Santiago, has closed registrations after a strong response from mining explorers. Over 15 projects covering copper, gold, lithium and other minerals will be showcased, with presentations from industry leaders such as Juan Ignacio Guzmán (GEM) and Jorge Cantallopts (CESCO). The fair also features a panel on mining code reforms and showcases major discovery projects in Chile and bordering Argentina.
