Chile's Firefighters Deploy Resources to Coquimbo Region After Disaster

On July 23, 2026, the Cuerpo de Bomberos de Santiago held its July Captains' Board at its headquarters. The meeting began with a moment of silence for recently fallen volunteers and reviewed safety statistics, noting a reduction in accident rates.

Commanders Giorgio Tromben Marcone, Juan Pablo Slako Guajardo, Sergio Yévenes Santander and Sebastián Mocarquer Grout discussed operational priorities, including the dispatch of volunteers and major equipment to the Coquimbo Region to assist with cold‑front conditions and ongoing catastrophe response. Additional agenda items covered tablet usage for service acts, inspections of municipal water supplies, HazMat training, drone‑operator accreditation, uniform allocation for new and youth volunteers, and inventory of minor and major material.

The board highlighted the need for continued support to fire units in Coquimbo, emphasizing coordination with local authorities and the Ministry of Civil Protection.
