Chile's FOSIS Habitability Program Improves Homes for 27 Families in Arica

The regional Ministry of Social Development and the Fondo de Solidaridad e Inversión Social (FOSIS) completed the 2024 Habitability Program in Arica, Chile, assisting 27 vulnerable families. The initiative provided home‑improving repairs, social assistance and specialized advice, with an investment exceeding 149 million Chilean pesos. Regional Social Development Minister Paulina Gálvez Melgar highlighted the program’s role in delivering dignity, welfare and future opportunities, while FOSIS director Marcelo Soto stressed the need for integrated interventions to combat poverty. The project was implemented by the María Olga Ester Social Development Corporation, aiming to strengthen living conditions and promote inclusion for families in the Arica and Parinacota region.
